為什麽山坡會呈今日的形狀?為什麽河流會分歧?經水文學者與地形學家長期的研究,已漸漸發掘出共同的控制原理,近幾年更集中精神研究以往所忽略的水文過程。本文承襲其精神旨在探討流域地形演進之模式,文中提出了河川始動限界之重要觀念,亦考慮沖蝕抗力,坡度與逕流機制之影響,並藉由集水區的這些特性將水文與排水密度關聯起來。

Why do hillslopes appear the current form Why do river channels branch? Hydrologists and geomorphologists have studied these problems for a long time. And they have found some common controlling principles. Now they also concentrate on the studies of hydrologic processes which were ignored on their earlier researches. The purpose of this paper is to discuss the model of river basin evolution. We proposed the concept of channel initiation threshold and considered the influences of erosional resistance, slope and runoff mechanism. We also combined hydrologic processes and drainage density through these properties of catchment.
