老年族群因肌肉力量隨年齡增長而下降,易導致失能,影響自理能力,從而影響生活品質。本研究旨在探討氣功運動介入對老年人在肌力、睡眠品質及生活品質之成效。研究設計為隨機對照研究,招募高雄某行政區域65歲以上符合收案條件之社區老人,有效個案共82位。採塊狀隨機分派,氣功組接受每週3次、每次30分鐘,共12週之易筋經氣功,對照組在相同時間內則維持日常活動。兩組分別在介入前與介入後之第4週、第8週、第12週進行資料收集與生理指標測量。在介入後第4週、第8週、第12週,氣功組與對照組在肌力、睡眠品質、生活品質皆達組間之統計顯著差異(p<.001),且氣功組優於對照組。本研究發現經12週易筋經氣功可改善老年人之肌力、睡眠品質和生活品質,其具有動作簡單、易學且不受練習時間或氣候之限制,應可推及社區作為老年人日常運動之選擇,另,建議未來可再延長介入週數並追蹤其延宕成效。

英文摘要

Older adults' muscle strength typically declines with age, likely leading to disability and reduced self-care ability. Ultimately, their quality of life is compromised. This study aimed to explore the effect of qigong exercise on older adults' muscle strength, sleep quality, and quality of life. This study adopted randomized controlled trials as the research design and valid participants 82 community-dwelling older adults aged 65 years or older who met inclusion criteria as participants from an administrative district in Kaohsiung. The participants were assigned to either the experimental (qigong) or control group through blocked randomization. The experimental group participated in 3 sessions-30 min per session-of Yi Jin Jing qigong per week for 12 weeks. The control group maintained their daily activity during the intervention period. For both groups, data collection and physiological index measurement were implemented before the intervention and in the fourth, eighth, and twelfth weeks of intervention. In the fourth, eighth, and twelfth weeks of intervention, the experimental group significantly outperformed the control group regarding their muscle strength, sleep quality, and quality of life (p < .001). This study discovered that the 12-week Yi Jin Jing qigong exercise improved older adults' muscle strength, sleep quality, and quality of life. This type of exercise is simple and easy to learn with no time or weather constraint, and can thus be a daily exercise option for community-dwelling older adults. We suggest that in the future, the number of weeks for intervention can be extended to examine its delayed effect.
