聯合國於2015年COP21大會通過的巴黎協定（Paris Agreement）以及17項永續發展目標（Sustainable Development Goals, SDGs），是全球永續發展的重要里程碑。商業環境面臨前所未有的風險和不確定性，面對史無前例的挑戰，除減緩溫室氣體排放，對抗全球暖化氣候變遷相關議題外；SDGs對企業永續之意義係將企業永續議題連結全球永續發展議題，可引導企業高層決策者提升思考經營戰略之布局高度、深化企業永續意涵，以及激發低碳與永續產品／服務之設計。臺灣企業近年來不僅在國內參與評比的永續績效水準顯著提升，國際的CSR競評或選拔成績也相當耀眼，確實引導良性競爭、提升永續績效，並協助型塑相關文化；惟台灣企業整體表現仍有朝M型化發展態勢，要改善此一現象，唯有從供應鏈端著手進行要求與教育，從而提升企業競爭力的契機，落實永續發展願景。
