英國中世紀《約克》（York Cycle）與《唐尼》始末劇（Towneley Cycle）〈十字架受難〉（＂Crucifixion＂）的場景中，劇作家透過今昔對比，呈現聖母慟子心情，並經由強調母子血肉相連關係與骨肉分離之苦，宣示母親身體的主權與對骨肉分離宿命的抗議。詳究不同始末劇中，在十字架下聖母慟子的戲劇再現手法，一來顯示出「骨肉分離」為始末劇詮釋母親宿命及建構母性的核心要素；二來牽涉劇中聖母主體性問題；三者，聖母主體性問題更呈現在對劇中聖母的後設討論、以及學者對中世紀聖母權力與女權的相關論述。本文就試圖從這三個層面逆溯，來思考英國中世紀聖經始末劇中的母性建構問題及相關的權力論述。
