本文從班雅民關於時間、記憶與風致的理論出發，結合拉康派精神分析理論來釐清破壞與再成框的雙向必要性，並帶入王童1995年的電影《紅柿子》中一些相關議題：歷史框架的轉換、現代性與傳統的衝突、人文意義的破壞與傳遞、主體與歷史之間的辯證等。《紅柿子》本身在情節的安排與串連上呈現插曲式或分斷式的結構；本文則希望能在此種準（後）現代的散裂經驗與記憶結構之中找到抗拒、重建與溝通的動力。除此之外，本文也兼論及《紅磨坊》、《臥虎藏龍》、《白色情迷》幾部電影作為對照之用，以資說明《紅柿子》所呈現的「框」（入櫃）與「無框」（出櫃）的深層辯證性。本文基本上認為，《紅柿子》可說是提供了另一種思考「出（後現代）櫃」或「走出出櫃」的方向與可能性。
