臨床醫學的文化現實和歷史情境除了傳統的科學醫療論述以外，可以藉著文本的方式來瞭解或闡釋，而且文本不必然要與臨床醫學的社會建構對峙。經典敘事學分析在臨床醫學的語境中的重新出現，也許意昧著所謂後經典敘事的且能，疾病書寫或醫學書寫或能成為這種開端之一。就醫者或病者的臨床實踐而言， 這種書寫也不僅是文類意義而己，還是自我闡釋、修整、統合， 甚至高度自我「凝視」的行動。本文以疾病誌為例，嘗試對這種新興次文類的書寫和閱讀進行論述，並及於醫學知識論的反思和敘事倫理應用。同時探討臨床醫學敘事在實踐上的美學導引價值與開發文類研究的可能性。醫學的人文屬性已經被上綱為醫學教育的核心，但是除了少數譯作外，國內相關的著作與文本研究仍然少見。
