本文藉由法國哲學家德希達最近逝世的機會，試圖透過探討他的文本對於死亡，以及與死亡相關聯議題的演練，能夠對他的死，做出回應。解構一向對邊界的跨越、界限的不確定、還有極限的意義，有很豐富而多樣的試探。死亡作為一種界限，或界限的界限，當然也是德希達持續注意的，並貫穿他眾多論文的主題。由於解構對當代思想、哲學論述、文學理論、文化批評的影響深遠，德希達本人的死亡，是代表什麼界限，或是某種跨越？是結束，還／也是開始？還是在人鬼之間？本文依序處理「死」的難局、哀悼、禮物和鬼魂四個晚期德希達重要主題，希望把他部分的學說連貫起來，用來初步面對解構的知識遺產。
