歷史的敘事化：《浴血的冬天》與《愚弄鴉族》中的敘事、記憶與部族歷史

敘事、歷史、記憶在威爾曲作品中佔據重要份量。本論文援引里柯有關記憶與遺忘之論點及其《時間敘事》一書有關虛構與歷史交織之見解，試圖探查威爾曲在《浴血的冬天》和《愚弄鴉族》兩部小說中，如何藉由敘述記憶與敘事想像，再現蒙大拿州黑腳部族歷史。文中指陳《浴血的冬天》中，威爾曲採取遺漏式敘事之目的，在於突顯出敘述記憶對建構個人屬性、集體歷史認知，以及恢復個人與部族關係的意義；事實上，藉由敘述記憶，威爾曲自回溯中挖掘出隱藏在黑腳部族底層幾近遺忘的歷史。文中同時析論歷史與虛構敘事想像在歷史小說《愚弄鴉族》中所發揮的作用，辯證威爾曲乃挪用黑腳部族神話、口語敘事與靈視經驗敘事，模糊真實與想像，具體形塑出黑腳部族的口語傳統與時間觀，呈現另類於西方認識系統的敘事與時間模式，此外文中也指出威爾曲以近乎「史詩」般的敘事，形塑出黑腳部族歷史中集體苦難的記憶，流露出其個人深沉的歷史與文化意識。依此，威爾曲不僅將被湮滅遺忘的原住民歷史逆寫回主流，也修正一般民族誌史對原住民錯誤的再現。
