Theoretical Calculations of Temperature-Dependent Isomer Shift in SnTe

The temperature-dependent isomer shift in SnTe is theoretically accounted for in terms of the effects of the thermal expansion of the solid and the thermal lattice vibrations. Theoretical calculations based on the pseudopotential method with temperature-dependent structure factors are in fair agreement with the experimental value. The present theory may be able to interpret the intrinsic semiconductors, such as SnTe and Mg2Sn, although it fails to explain β-Sn.
