The excitation spectrum of a two-level atom interacting with a strong electromagnetic field when the atomic transition frequency is nearly twice the frequency of the laser field is investigated without making the ”rotating-wave approximation” in the coupling between them. The spectral function consisting of four Lorentzian lines is obtained. Their heights are different from that predicted before using the ”rotating-wave approximation”. |
