As identified by powder x-ray diffraction and precise calculation of lattice parameters, four pure polycrystalline samples (Tl0.6Pb0.4)(Sr2-xPrx)CuO5-δ with x = 0, 0.4 and (Tl0.5Pb0.5)(Sr2-xPrx)CuO5-δ_with x = 0, 0.5 have been prepared. Replacement of Sr^2+ ions by Pr^3+ ions in (Tl,Pb)Sr2CuO5-δ_results in the surprising increase in lattice parameter a and the decrease in lattice parameter c, which is a manifestation of hole filling in CuO2 sheets by Pr ions or the decrease in the valence of Cu ion. The optimal superconductivity in (Tl,Pb)Sr2CuO5-δ is achievable through the fine tuning by Pr-doping and heat treatment. |
