Mercury compounds (HgBa2Can-1lCunO2n+2+δ) displayed the highest Tc for superconductivity. In this work, the solid state chemical reactions in a mixture were monitored by Raman spectroscopy. HgO and CaO were studied as examples to illustrate the reaction kinetics in forming high-T, Hg-compounds. The Raman band of HgO diminishes and that of CaHgO2 grows in intensity during the heating process. The reaction between HgO and Ba2CuO3 was also studied and found to be much more complicated. Mechanisms for these two solid state chemical reactions were suggusted. |
