The experimental angular distributions of the N14(p,α)C11 reaction, leading to the ground and the first three excited states in C11 at incident energies ranging from 20.5 to 45 MeV, are examined and compared. The examination and comparison processes show that most of the angular distributions of the present reaction have the characteristics of direct nuclear reactions. This leads us to use the semi-microscopic DWBA-theory and the Kurath-Millener's SU(3) spectroscopic factor amplitudes for the transferred triton in the theoretical analysis of the lower four C11 states: the ground state (3/2(superscript −); 1/2), and the 2.00 (1/2(superscript −); 1/2), 4.319 (5/2(superscript −); 1/2), and 4.804 MeV (3/2(superscript −); 1/2) states. The analysis process shows an excellent fit between the experimental angular distributions and the theoretical DWBA predictions for the four states. Coincidences are obtained also between the theoretical spectroscopic factors (S) and both the experimental and theoretical forward integrated cross-section values at E(subscript p) = 41 MeV. The values and orders of the experimental excitation energies for the four investigated C11 states are also in good agreement with the corresponding theoretical values and their orders. Such coincidences between the theoretical and experimental data can be considered as a successful test for the Kurath-Millener spectroscopic-factors and also for the Cohen-Kurath wave-functions themselves and their accuracy, as well as the calculation model. |
