荷蘭的公共圖書館素以服務工作的先進和完善著稱，環境與設施的配合是使其成功的重要因素之一。本文介紹新建完成的Almere公共圖書館，其特色是將公共圖書館中類似書店的展示性進一步地與百貨公司的空間型態相結合，營造出展示空間的趣味，吸引讀者來圖書館瀏覽和借閱圖書。

Public libraries in the Netherlands have been well known for their wide range of innovative services. Their success is largely attributed to the facilities they have and the environments they are in. In this article the newly constructed Almere Library is introduced. Its uniqueness comes from displaying books in a bookstore-like fashion and placing the displays in a space similar to that of a department store. This has created an appealing display space that attracts many readers to the library.
