Children are one of the most important groups when it comes to using public library services. However, due to physical limitations, children are often incapable of receiving complete services within the library. The purpose of this study is to review the feasibility of implementing service robots in the children's reading section of the library, in the hopes that the maturity of service robot technology can break through the staff, space and service restrictions while enhancing the appeal and safety. After analysis and review, this study has composed 7 main functions and services that service robots can provide for children reading at public libraries: 1) Book search; 2) Introduction function; 3) Personal customization services; 4) Companionship functions; 5) Story telling services; 6) Inquiry services; 7) Security functions. The implementation of service robots can reduce the working load of library personnel and provide children with a more appealing, assisting and interactive experience.
