先天性陰道發育缺失在臨床上並不算少見。根據文獻上報告大約四千到五千個婦女中可發現一例。自從1817年，第一個人工陰道手術開始迄今，已有各種不同的方法來矯正這類疾病。這些不同的手術繁簡不一，各有其優缺點。臨床上處理先天性陰道發育缺失應評估各個病人的解剖差異而使用最簡易的手術，以期達到最佳的治療效果。本例是使用改良式Williams氏手術來矯正陰道發育缺失的報告。

Vaginal agenesis is not rare. Many ingenious procedures have been devised for its correction; some are simple, and some are complicated. Each has it advantages and disadvantages. One must evaluated each patient individually and used the simplest technique which will give the best result in the particular patient involved. The Williams operation had first been reported in 1964. This involves use of the tissue of the labia to form a functional vagina without invasion of the pelvis and the subsequent morbidity. There was one case of vaginal agenesis at T.S.G.H. in the past one year to which we applied the modified Williams operation with the Z-plasty technique for a neovagina.
