萊特氏徵候群為一好犯於年輕人的全身性疾病。目前致病機轉不明，但我們認為和環境與遺傳有關。雖然具HLA B-27陽性的個體，不一定都會得此疾病，但在腸道感染或性感染時，却較易發病，而且所產生的症狀與後遺症也較一般人嚴重。至於萊特氏徵候群的致病因正與日俱增。本病例報告進一步證實此病可由特定病原體－Chlamydia trachomatis，作為性傳染時的媒介原。

Reiter's syndrome (R.S.) is often presented as a multiple involvements in young male. Although the disease mechanism remains unknown, we still consider the interaction between environment and genetics to be the pathogenesis. The relative risk in case of sexual exposure and infectious diarrhea disease, is much higher for individual with B-27 positive to develope R.S. HLA B-27 may not be absolutary for the development of the R.S. while, it may increase the severity and its later sequelae. The causing factors of R.S. are being widely expanded day by day. This presentation further indicated the mode of sexually acquired R.S., a particular microorganism, Chlamydia trachomatis.
