Increasing empirical research has confirmed the positive psychological effects of nature on human beings. However, limited studies have discussed the impact of daily exposure to nature. Employing a smartphone to record the daily impact of exposure to nature continuously over a seven-day period, this study examined the duration of exposure, perceive naturalness, and emotional condition using the Zuckerman inventory of personal reactions (ZIPERS) scale. The results showed that the relationship between emotion and exposure time formed an inverted U-shaped curve. The strongest positive emotional state was observed for the duration of 61-90 minutes, following which the effect of nature tended to weaken. During the 151-180 minutes, the exposure-response curve sloped upward. In addition, the higher the perceived naturalness, the more positive the emotional responses were. This study clarified the relationship among contact time, naturalness, and psychological responses. It also verified the benefits of daily exposure to nature or greenery. Future research could further examine physiological data obtained from wearable devices as well as surrounding environment and natural elements to provide more insight into the impact of daily exposure to natural landscapes.
