中文摘要 |
Obesity, traditionally defined by a high body mass index (BMI), paradoxically confers a survival benefit in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD). However, this "obesity paradox" may be due to the limitations of BMI as a measure of adiposity. BMI does not distinguish body fat from lean mass or fluid retention, which is commonly seen in CKD patients. Emerging data have gone beyond BMI to include body composition to better predict clinical outcomes in patients with CKD. This review will focus on the clinical implications of body composition assessment among patients with nondialysis-dependent CKD. |
