A Rare Presentation of Acute Renal Failure: Sjögren's Syndrome with Cardiac Lymphoma

Autoimmune diseases are often associated with malignancies. In patients with primary Sjögren's syndrome (pSjS), approximately 5% develop lymphoma, especially non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. In this case, the patient presented with ascites and acute kidney injury of uncertain etiology. However, contrasted computed tomography of the chest unexpectedly revealed a cardiac mass in the right ventricle, which could be the cause of both ascites and acute kidney injury. Furthermore, a pathology report of the cardiac mass disclosed T-cell lymphoma, whereas a high titer of the anti-Ro antibody was simultaneously detected. We will discuss the relationship between Sjögren's syndrome and T-cell lymphoma in the following content.
