Engineering design constitutes a critical factor for a construction project, and the process has fundamentally impacted a construction project's life. The evaluation and control of engineering performance are significant in delivering the projects. Previous research on engineering performance has established the relationships between project attributes and performance measures. In recent years, the application of Building Information Modeling (BIM) has changed how industrial facility owners execute design, construction, and operations in the construction industry. Furthermore, researchers are growing interest in measuring the benefits of BIM on project performance, but less focus on engineering design performance. Improving engineering performance based on the knowledge of the relationships between BIM inputs and project outcomes becomes essential. To fill this gap, the paper presents a systematic statistical analysis that correlates the BIM uses with engineering performance to better control measurement and prediction in industrial construction projects. The development of the system is based on actual project data that was collected through BIM application surveys. The statistical variable reduction techniques are further employed to develop multiple linear regression models of the engineering performance prediction scheme, and the best prediction was achieved and validated. The results of the study reveal that the correlation between BIM uses and engineering performance measures is significant. Moreover, engineering performance measures can be further predicted by BIM uses attributes. |

工程設計績效評估與預測影響專案生命週期與執行成效,近年來,BIM的應用已改變工程統包執行的方式。基於了解應用BIM使用要件與專案成果間關係,提高預測工程績效的重要性,進一步了解其相對關聯性,本研究建立一套系統分析模型,將BIM使用輸入因素與工程設計績效輸出進行關聯性分析,以達更好的測量和預測營建專案BIM的應用效益。本研究是應用BIM於執行中專案所收集的應用數據,進一步建立工程績效預測模型,經過嚴謹驗證後,得到最佳的預測結果。結果證明,BIM應用與工程設計績效指標之間存在顯著的相關性,可用於進一步預測工程設計績效指標。 |
