Dong Zhong Shu's doctrine about aesthetic education is to see saints as the model for the sovereign ruler and gentlemen as the ideal formation of self-perfection for the whole society and beautify one's body, mind, spirit, and appearance through musical education. Such a doctrine is marked by the theoretical foundation of the relationship between Heaven and Man as well as the service goal of realistic political interests. |
