對墨家哲學的研究,歷來的焦點較側重在「十論」中有關於重建社會秩序的主張,如兼愛、非攻、尚同、尚賢等主張;但對於墨學研究的發展性而言,墨學研究的課題當更涉及本質及基礎的議題,「天人關係」的探討應是一個本質層及基礎性的內容。墨家的主張除了對現實世界的安頓予以關切外,更有其對「理想國度」的渴望與追求。而這個預設的基礎即落在「天人關係」上,天人關係中的二元世界中,天是立極是建體,而「天」的思想是中國哲學的重要觀念,它是價值根源,道德的基礎與人倫社會的規範。墨家由「天人關係」上開展出所欲建立的理想國度,從而建立如「天志的天道觀」、「兼愛的倫理觀」、「法先王」、「用夏政」、「非命與非樂的人生觀」及「節用與節葬的生活觀」種種的概念。在人文世界的努力上,墨家對於「士志於道」的堅持,亦不遑多讓,士之性格充滿著一種積極性,普世性的理型性格,以「道」為己任,墨家之士除了厚乎德行,辯乎言談,博乎道術之外,尚有任俠,為義而死之道德堅持,在人文世界所塑造的性格,不僅使得墨家成為「顯學」之一,堅持非命的性格,亦成為其成就理想國度不可忽略的動力。

英文摘要

Reconstruction of social order in the ten discourses of the Mohist philosophy such as the principles of universal love, no war, obedience to sovereignty and respect for the virtuous and competent people has always been the core of study. However, substantial and fundamental issues in the study of the Mohist School need to be developed. The exploration of the heaven-man relationship deals with substantial and fundamental contexts. In addition to giving concern for the peace of the real world, the Mohists also thirst for and pursue the utopia. The heaven-man relationship is based on this premise. In the heaven-man dual world, the heaven is the orientation and building block. The thought of heaven is an important idea in Chinese philosophies since it is the source of values, the foundation of morality and the norm for human relations. An ideal kingdom desired by the Mohists was thus developed from this heaven-man relationship leading to a variety of concepts like the way of sovereign good (heaven's will), ethics of universal love, imitation of precedent kings, application of the governmental regulations in Hsia Dynasty, non-predestinate and no-amusement views of life, a frugal lifestyle and simple funerals. The Mohist persistence in cultivating moral and benevolent gentlemen devoted to the right way can't be ignored for developing a humane world. The moral and benevolent gentlemen have a positive, universal and rational character and dedicate themselves to the righteous way. Besides emphasis on moral conduct, eloquence in argument and excellence in Taoist skills, the Mohists also shoulder the mission of defending and sanctifying righteousness even at the expense of their own lives. Therefore, the Mohist not only becomes one of the most significant schools but also poses itself as an undeniable force in achieving an ideal kingdom with its authoritative feature of universal values.
