The bamboo documents from the Goudian in the Warring States Period are regarded as a significant discovery in the late 20th century, and those materials play a major role in the Warring States philosophical concepts. There are 16 documents among those materials: some are referable to the existing documents that had been passed down for generations; some are unearthed documents. From the perspective of Eastern scholars, these newly-found bamboo documents are associated with Confucianism and Taoism; nevertheless, there is also an opposing group of Western Scholars, who believe the six schools do not exist in the Warring States Period, claim that these documents should not be categorized in either Confucianism or Taoism. In the following argument, there will be analytical research of these unearthed documents, and how these documents reflect the scholars and their concepts of Taoism from the Warring States period. In conclusion, despite the fact that there are different concepts and thoughts of Tao, they can still coexist and be logical. |
