柏拉圖《大希庇亞篇〉是至今談「美」有系統的最早重要文獻，本文試圖以現代的性別角度對其加以解讀與批判，這亦是女權主義哲學範疇中，對於傳統思想的一種重新檢視與反省。因此本文有2個重點：1. 柏拉圖《大希庇亞篇》談「美」。2. 以性別觀點解讀與批判柏拉圖《大希庇亞篇》。雖然「美」是什麼？這個概念與問題讓柏拉圖都得承認「美」是困難的，但不論是在其探究的過程中，或是以今日性別的不同角度去勘查，「美」這議題依然引人入勝！
英文摘要

Plato's ”Greater Hippias” is so far the earliest and most important piece to address ”beauty” systematically. This paper attempts to interpret and criticize it from the modern perspective of gender as part of the feminist re-examination and reflection on traditional thought. Therefore, the two major points of this paper are 1) Plato's ”Greater Hippias” actually deals with ”beauty;” 2) ”Greater Hippias” is interpreted and criticized from the perspective of gender. Though Plato admitted that both the concept and nature of ”beauty” are difficult, the issue of ”beauty” is still intriguing whether in the process of exploration or from the modern perspective of gender.
