In the dualistic field of comparing the ancient and the contemporary as well as the Chinese and the western, revolving around ”the interpretative orientation of Chinese Philosophy and its humanist consciousness, this article asks a question that the contemporary interpretation of Chinese philosophy can not avert: ”How indeed the meaning of truthfulness be revealed?” Furthermore, demonstrating through the fundamental question of Taoist thought, the writer reviews whether the philosophical interpretation of Taoism has moved from the dual approaches of the value order of ”nature,” ”non-action” and ”nothing left undone” and the existential order of ”nothingness” and ”being” to the humanist domain and value domain of Taoism. Among other Taoists, Laozi and Zhuangzi's concerns about humanism and life are the central meanings that no interpreters of Taoism can neglect. On the other hand, between the seemingly opposite contexts of the intellectual speculation and value practice of Taoism, the critical key in one's progression of interpretation is how to begin the self-exploration about life in terms of ”the argument that needs no words, and the Way that is not to be trodden” and show the aesthetics of the movement of life-since the fundamental concern of Taoism has transcended the limits of concepts and theories, pointing to the foundation of being and the source of life.
