「外推」是在當今社會多元化、全球化的背景下，為科際整合、文化互動而提出的哲學主張。本文通過疏釋孟子的相關思想，揭示出孟子具有「外推」的思想，可以豐富外推哲學。同時，本文還通過分析孟子思想中「反己」與「外推」的對比與互動關係，展示出孟子思想含有溝通現代性與後現代性的智慧，可為當代社會的良性發展提供助益。

”Strangefication” (or wai lui in Chinese), which means going outside of oneself to the other and to the strangers, is a philosophical concept and epistemological strategy proposed by Prof. Fritz Wallner and developed by Prof. Vincent Shen in recent years. Taking account of the tendency of pluralism and globalization, strangefication as an epistemological strategy can be widely used in interdisciplinary research and intercultural interaction. This paper aims to explore Mencius' thought of Strangefication and show that ”turning inwards” (fan ji) and ”going outside” (wai lui), both of which are core concepts in Mencius' philosophy, can have a contrastive and interactive relation according to Mencius. This wisdom is helpful for us to build a bridge between modernity and post-modernity.
