兒童讀經與兒童哲學(簡稱P4C)是20世紀下半旬,分別在華人與西方社會興起的教育運動,目前在仍持續發揮一定的影響力,但不免面臨一些實務上的問題。這些問題促使筆者興起結合兒童讀經與兒童哲學的之想法,故於2013暑假設立為期一年的「論語討論班」,對象為15名11-13歲具有讀經經驗的學童,討論的方法改良自夏威夷兒童哲學(p4c Hawaii)的團體探究教學流程和課室經營模式。本文的目的在闡明「論語討論班」的學童如何在課堂中提問問題;如何跨越發言的恐懼與障礙;如何透過對話與探究,共同建構對於《論語》相關問題的理解;如何在安全的團體氛圍中自由展現思維特色;如何在多重的視野交融中調整與深化想法。最後筆者企圖以「論語討論班」的創新教學實踐,勾勒其所呈現的生命哲學探究特色。

英文摘要

Ertong Dujing and Philosophy for Children (P4C) are grassroots educational movements arising in the second half of the 20th century in Chinese and Western societies respectively. Each has continued to have an impact. However, both face certain problems in practice. These problems propelled me to integrate these two activities and to establish "the Analects Discussion Class" using the P4C pedagogy of a community of inquiry. The paper looks at the questions children asked in the class; how they overcame the fear of speaking and the barriers of participation; how they use dialogue and inquiry to construct their understanding about the Analects; and how they demonstrated unique ways of thinking in an intellectually safe environment; and how they adjusted and deepened their thinking through the process. The paper ends by outlining some unique features embedded in our philosophical community of inquiry.
