英文摘要 |
Sādhya, meaning what is to be proved, is a fundamental concept in contrast to sādhana in Buddhist logic. The specific interpretation of this concept by a certain commentator can present his understanding of the nature of Buddhist logic. Indian Buddhist logician Dignāga has a different viewpoint on sādhya from that of ancient masters. To such difference, Tang commentators, i.e., Wengui, Jingyan, and Kuiji, offer various explanations. Among them, Kuiji expounds the relationship and difference between ancient masters and Dignāga through the role of "connected thesis", and employs new concepts "substratum of the thesis" and "essence of the thesis", in order to illustrate that merely the thesis, which is to be argued about, is the sādhya in Dignāga's theory. This interpretation does not only highlight Dignāga's change from ancient masters, but also presents his new Buddhist logic as a system with a dialectic feature. |
