慢性阻塞性肺病已成為國人十大死因之一，目前除氧氣治療外，並無其他方法證實可延長病患的生命。肺臟容量縮減手術對於特定之廣泛型肺氣腫的病例側是一種緩解性的治療方式。肺臟容量縮減手術的目標乃是減少兩側肺部容量大約百分之二十至三十，以改善病患的症狀。此外，我們比較了解此病人術前及術後之肺功能及運動耐受力是否改善。而結論顯示肺臟容量縮減手術對肺氣腫的病例而言，是一種可行之治療選擇。(慈濟醫學 1999; 11:371-377)

Lung volume reduction surgery (LVRS) has been regarded as a palliative treatment for the diffuse type of emphysema in selected cases. The goal of LVRS it to reduce the volume of both lungs by about 20% to 30%. Here we report our experience with one case of LVRS, and also compare the preoperative and postoperative pulmonary function and exercise performance of this patients. LVRS seems to be a good alternative treatment for managing emphysema in selected patients..(Tzu Chi Med J 1999; 11:371-377)
