日本傳統文化對現代日本人民仍具深厚影響，此可從日本傳統茶道文化仍影響著日本設計界的各個層面一事中得知。作為設計專業的一個分支，日本建築師亦不例外。安藤忠雄在展現日本傳統文化於其建築案例一事上，可能是日本最傑出的一位今日建築師。本研究擬以Coomaraswamy之傳統象徵主義，來檢驗日本傳統茶道文化對安藤忠雄建築案例之影響。

Japanese traditional culture have strong influence on Japanese people. This can be seen from the fact that Japanese traditional Chado culture still exerts considerable influence in many aspects of Japanese design profession. As one branch of design profession, Japanese architects are no exception to this rule. As regards expressing Japanese traditional culture through the medium of architectural works, Tadao Ando is probably the foremost architect in present-day Japan. This study proposes to examine Tadao Ando's architectural works in the light of Japanese traditional Chado culture by way of Coomaraswamy's traditional symbolism.
