This study attempts to establish a relationship between subjective definition and one of the objective parameters, time delay of first reflection(△t1)base on Ando's theories^1. The parameter may represent the subjective definition preference and can be used as a reference in designing an auditorium before construction. The method of this study applied a series of subjective definition test (paired-comparison method)and calculated the subjective preference of time delay of initial reflection △t1 using Ando's formula. According to the analysis of the subjective difinition of the auditorium and the lecture hall at Chaoyang University of Technology, and the calculation of subjective preference for △t1, the results show significant correlation between them(auditorium r=0.62, p<0.05; lecture hall r=0.71, p<0.05).
