The author was invited to present a paper at the 1st forum on Dr. Sun Yat-Sen's thoughts, held in Beijing, on Nov. 11, 2006. The forum was co-sponsored by the Philosophy Department of Beijing University and two private cultural foundations in Taiwan. Since 1866, when Dr. Sun Yat-Sen was born, Nov. 12, 2006 was his 140 anniversary. The author flew to Beijing via Macao to present the paper explaining that the modern knowledge of industrial quality management was vital to Dr. Sun's Principle for the People. In the article, the author stated that his inspiration to write the paper has come from the quote ”do it right the first time” by Philip B. Crosby, one of the noted masters of quality in USA. As a Quality guy, the author also mentioned some of the phenomena in the service industry especially the hotels of which the management was yet to awakened to quality. Before the forum, the author joined the partners to have a short visit to the Great Wall and the late Imperial Summer Palace.
