In this article, I will discuss methods of enhancing women's rights using the Women's City Club of New York's (WCCNY) perspective towards higher education in the case study of City University of New York's 1970s Open Admissions policy. The WCCNY fully supported an open admissions policy to increase opportunities for women to attend community college. They believed that the training provided through liberal education would teach them different ways of thinking as well as empower them with techniques needed in the labor market, especially as required for the field of professional nursing work. Experience in higher education helps women raise their general level of consciousness while reforming and improving their rights and status. The WCCNY opposes the traditional stance of feminism and the Women's Movement by insisting on using their professional independent research to further the benefits of women in higher education. As proven in this case study, there are other ways to increase women's rights without involving the Women's Movement.
