前列腺素E2並非十分穩定的代謝產物且在體液中含量很低。我們以目前最可靠的方法碘－125放射免疫測定法來測定房水及網膜下積液內前列腺素E2的濃度。我們收集了8例視網膜剝離病患清徹的網膜下積液（不混有血液）得到前列腺素E2的濃度為345.6從毫克／毫升，較血清中濃度60微毫克／毫升高。其中有6例病患我們測了兩眼房水內的濃度發現罹患網膜剝離眼內房水濃度（154.3微毫克／毫升）較正常眼房水內濃度（121微毫克／毫升）為高。我們推測在患有網膜剝離者的網膜下積液內前列腺素E2會增高。

[I^125] Radioimmunoassays to determine levels of prostaglandin E2 in rhegmatogenous subretinal fluid samples from 8 patients showed 345.4pg/cc. This level was significantly higher than serum level, 60 pg/cc. Besides that, we determined the aqueous level in retinal detached eye and normal eye from the same patient. Comparing with the control eye (12.1 pg/cc), the prostaglandin E2 level was elevated in retinal detached eye (154.3 pg/cc). We highly suspected that prostaglandin E2 in subretinal fluid was elevated in disease of retinal detachment.
