對於十二位患有asteroid hyalosis的病人（十三眼）施予細隙燈、眼底鏡、超音波及血液生化檢查，其中十一位(91.7%)為單眼患者，一位(8.3%)為雙眼患者。細隙燈及眼底鏡下asteroid顆紅呈瀰散性分布的有八位患者(66.7%)，其餘四位(33.3%)呈局限性分布。超音波B掃瞄之表現可分成兩類：第一類型呈漏斗狀瀰散性超音波分布，共五位患者(41.7%)；第二類型呈局限性超音波分布，共七位患者(58.3%)。血液生化檢查顯示兩位患者(16.7%)有血糖及血脂肪升高的現象。

Slit lamp biomicroscopy, ultrasonography and blood chemistry were performed in twelve patients with asteroid hyalosis. One of twelve patients (8.3%) had unilateral involvement and the others (91.7%) had bilateral involvement. Under slit lamp biomicroscopy and ophthalmoscopy, asteroid particles were diffusely distributed in eight patients (66.7%) and localized in four patients (33.3%). B-scan ultrasonography revealed diffuse, dense and funnel-shaped intravitreal echoes in five patients (41.7%) and localized, few echoes with variable reflectivity in seven patients (58.3%), which might resemble other entities of vitreous opacities. Abnormal blood chemistry (elevated blood sugar, cholesterol and triglyceride) in two patients (16.7%) were also noted.
