本篇報告美國及斯里蘭卡所捐贈角膜保存液的微生物培養所見。自1989年7月進行至1990年7月間，我們例行做眼角膜保存液之微生物培養，以了解可能之污染情形。美國和斯國來源分別取樣55例和19例。結果顯示美國方面的保存液僅出現一例Staphylococcus epidermidis，佔1/55(1.81%)，並未發現革蘭氏陰性菌。斯里蘭卡的保存液則是革蘭氏陽性茵S.epidermidis佔1/19(5.26%)及陰性菌Pseudomonas species佔2/19(10.52%)。接受這些角膜的病人中有兩例發生術後感染，但其捐贈角膜的保存液則均未檢出微生物。

This is a report of culture result of our routine microbiologic control for the preservation medium for donor corneas. The corneas which we received between July 1989 and July 1990, from the eye bank of Cincinnati, U.S.A. have only one positive finding (Staphy. epidermidis) in 55 cultures (1.81%) we have performed. Compared with the culture finding of which we received from Sri Lanka about the same period showing 5.26% positive culture rate for Gram positive bacteria (Staphy. epidermidis) and 10.52% positive culture rate for Gram negative bacteria (both are Pseudo. sp). There're two cases of endophthalmitis in patients who received corneal transplantation during this period and both of the corneas came from U.S.A. But their compatible culture result of preservation medium revealed negative finding. All the cases who received the corneas with positive culture didn't show any evidence of infection.
