所謂不等像(aniseikonia)是指visual cortex所感受到的兩側影像大小或形狀不同;當不等像超過一個程度,會抑制binocularity,而影響立體感。本文收集52位兩眼屈光相差在1.0D以內,雙眼不等像幾近於零,且無其他眼部疾病之受檢者接受檢查。利用Zeiss aniseikonia lens依序造成2%、3%、5%、8%、10%之雙眼不等像,再分別施予Titmus、TNO、Frisby及Awaya new stereo等立體視覺檢查,以比較分析這些立體視覺檢查的敏感度,並試著找出不等像對立體感的忍受範圍。 結果顯示TNO stereo test敏感度最好。在Titmus及Awaya new stereo test中,至少10%的induced aniseikonia(即5.78%的perceived aniseikonia)仍能維持50 arcsec的stereoacuity;在TNO stereo test中,5%的induced aniseikonia(即2.99%的perceived aniseikonia)尚能維持60 arcsec.的stereoacuity。且至少10%的induced aniseikonia仍可保持120 arcsec.的stereoacuity同時向Awaya new aniseikonia test的結果發現,neurophysiological process大約可抵銷30%~42%的induced aniseikonia。

Aniseikonia is defined as a difference of perceived retinal image size and/or shape by visual cortex from 2 eyes. A certain amount of aniseikonia exceeding the tolerable thhreshold may result in asthenopia or disturbance of binocularity. In order to compair the sensitivity of different stereo tests on aniseikonia and to determine the tolerable threshold of aniseikonia on stereopsis, Titmus, TNO, Frisby and Awaya new stereo tests were performed on 52 normal subjects with 2%, 3%, 5%, 8%, 10% of Zeiss aniseikonia lenses respectively. The results suggest that the TNO stereo test is more effective than Titmus and Awaya new stereo test for detecting the effect of aniseikonia on stereopsis. The tolerable threshold of aniseikonia for stereopsis is more than 10% of induced aniseikonia (5.7% of perceived aniseikonia) for 50 arcsec. stereoacuity in the Titmus and Awaya new stereo test, and 5% of induced aniseikonia (2.99% of perceived aniseikonia) for 60 arcses. stereoacuity and at least 10% of induced aniseikonia for 120 arcses. stereoacuity in the TNO test. We also found that the neurophysiological process could approximately compensate 30%-42% of induced aniseikonia concluded fron the results of Awaya new aniseikonia test.
