本篇報告一例鞏膜外箍物感染，經培養證實為Mycobacterium Chelonei感染。患者右眼因視網膜剝離接受鞏膜和壓手術，術後即出現溢淚及輕微膿性分泌物等慢性結膜炎症狀。經過四年，又因眼瞼內翻手術後出現嚴重之眼瞼紅腫及大量膿性分泌物，並出現鞏膜外箍物外露。經手術移除鞏膜外箍物並全身性友局部投予Amikacin治療四個月後，病況逐漸改善而痊癒，迄今無復發現象。

We treated a case of scleral explant infection following eyelid surgery. The patient received two consecutive scleral buckling procedures 5 years ago. Persistent chronic conjunctivitis with red eye and mild purulent discharge developed after the RD surgery. Symtoms worsened after eyelid surgery accompanied by extrusion of scleral sponge explant over upper temporal conjunctival fornix. Bacterial culture showed rapidly growing mycobacterium. Further laboratory study by biochemical tests revealed as Mycobacterium chelonei that sensitive to Amikacin and Kanamycin. Eyelid swelling and purulent discharge subsided after removal of explant and administration with Amikacin for 4 months. No sign of recurrence was noticed. We speculated that prolonged topical antibiotics and corticosteroid use or contamination during eyelid surgery may contribute to the worsening of scleral explant infection with Mycobacterium Chelonei.
