臨床上使用一種簡便、易操作的方法來評估在明暗間隔下人類視覺系統對於對比的敏感度，已經漸受到重視。本篇報告使用MCT 8000來評估糖尿病患者的視覺能力。結果顯示糖尿病患有視網膜病變者，在所有間隔頻率對比敏感度均下降；而糖尿病患無視網膜病變者則在低、中度間隔頻率對比敏感度下降。此外，我們發現對比敏感度有隨著視網膜病變嚴重程度而下降的趨勢。

A simple technique had been described for assessing the sensitivity of human visual system to grade at contrast threshold. The technique had clinic advantages because it is simple, inexpensive and easy to handle. Contrast sensitivity of diabetics with different stages of diabetic retinopathy and normal subjects were studied. In this study, Multivision contrast tester (MCT 8000) was used with 1.5, 3, 6, 12, and 18 cycle per degree. We found that diabetics without retinopathy had abnormal contrast sensitivity at low and medial spatial frequencies and diabetics with retinopathy had abnormal contrast sensitivity at all frequencies. Besides, we found a tendency hat contrast sensitivity decreased as the severity of retinopathy increased.
