本篇報告乃針對接受老年性白內障手術之病例共300名為對象，其中黑色白內障共22例(7.3%)，將其與非黑色白內障作比較分析，可得知黑色白內障的發生與高齡較有關係，且其對術後的視力恢復無不良之影響。

Cataracta nigra is defined as a black cataract which is caused by deposition of melanin pigment in the lens fiber. Clinically, it usually seriously deteriorate the vision. Three hundred patients who have received senile cataract operation in Father Fox Memorial Hospital, Tainan, during the two-month period from June 25, 1990 to August 28, 1990 were enrolled into this prospect study. Among them, twenty-two patients (7.3%) had cataracta nigra. Cases of cataracta nigra were compared with controlled group in four aspects: age, presence of D.M. hypertension and uremia, I.O.P. and axial length. Only senility showed some significance, and the post operative visiual recovery is satifactory in almost all the cases.
