本文首先透過鳥瞰《貝葉》詩集，宏觀整體取材與思想流動，釐清詩人美感經驗及創作基調；其次，聚焦〈貝葉〉組詩，就「取象」與「鑄意」兩大面向來開展：探討〈貝葉〉組詩典故意象之運用，細分為「佛學典故意象」、「神話、聖經典故意象」及「其他典故意象」，以了解〈貝葉〉組詩語言轉化之功；論述〈貝葉〉組詩之主題世界，則分作「寫慾」、「涵情」、「攝智」三層面，以探勘〈貝葉〉組詩豐富之礦藏。再次，總論〈貝葉〉組詩在「象」與「意」的表現，耙梳各詩葉之間的呼應與關聯，凸顯〈貝葉〉組詩的主旋律，同時示現其陶煉之過程。最後，除了肯定〈貝葉〉組詩之殊異表現外，並指陳其微瑕小疵。

This paper firstly takes a wide view on the overall ideas on the collection and the fluency of thoughts to clarify the beauty experiences of the author, Lin-Yei Yan, as well as his basic ideas. Secondly, it will focus on the use of symbolism and connotations of the Pattra's Leaves (Bay-yei) Sequence. The using of allusions and symbols can be divided into several parts-classical Buddhist allusions, mythology and Biblical allusions, and other classical allusions, in order to explore the magnificent skills of extracting words in this sequence. From another aspect, to explore the abundant knowledge in the poetry, the theme of this work will be discussed in terms of desire, passion and wisdom. This paper concludes the display of the sequence, clarifies the relationship among all the poems, and also demonstrates the tone of the sequence. At the same time, it shows the progress of Lin-Yei Yan's creation. Besides appreciating the outstanding performance of Pattra's Leaves (Bay-yei) Sequence, it points out some flaws as well.
