證諸國外相關文獻,地理或環境相關通識課程多已融入其終身學習的系統之中,美國在過去十年,不只中小學地理教育蓬勃發展,大學生選修地理與環境相關課程的人數也不斷增加,大學生修習地理相關課程,確實對他掌握諸多生活面向的問題,特別是了解社會組織變貌與自然環境間的聯繫,以及世界觀的建立大有助益。 所有大學院校均高度肯定地理學與環境相關課程在大學通識課程中的存在價值。未來各大學院校如何能設計出讓學生願意選修、教師喜歡教的地理學相關課程架構至關重要。如何凸顯地理學課程的生活價值最為重要,環境或地理課程名稱並不重要,重要的是課程內容的安排與教學方式要有吸引力,要以口碑取勝,吸引學生選修,課程地位才會穩固。 調查顯示地理學的人地關係論、人與環境的關係、自然與人文要素的整合觀、全球變遷與永續發展等議題或課程都獲得高頻率的勾選和青睞,這意味著地理學的當代發展趨勢也與當今社會發展脈動緊密扣合。各大學院校所開授的地理與環境相關課程各分別有42及40門課程,本研究依據各校開授頻率與諮詢會議結果,分別建構了地理學與環境相關通識課程架構各6門課合計各為12學分。各大學院校可視性質與個別需求,開設1-3門合計2-6學分之選修課程,將能培育兼具地理與環境素養的現代世界公民。 |
英文摘要 |
The present paper analyzes the curriculum and the status quo of geography- and environment-related courses at college and university level general education. It is recommended that geography- and environment-related courses be offered at college level education as partial fulfillment of college degrees. The skepticism about the nature of geographical education can be explained by a traditional and misleading understanding of geography. As the field of geography has gone through drastic transformations and changes, geographic education has retained a rather traditional façade. Under the disguise of the traditional façade, the general public considers geography course to be a mere memory of place names and facts. This study finds that colleges and universities surveyed support the necessity and value of geographic and environment-related courses in the general education. To revive the value of geographic education, it is important to designate geographic general education highly related to living experience, in which geography blends not only the local but also global integration and glocal processes. In terms of content, man-location relationship, man-environment relationship, nature-culture integration, global changes and sustainable development are the most cited significant contents of education, as the present survey revealed. Such contents reveal the pulse of current society and it is highly linked to the development of contemporary geography. Based on questionnaire results and expert opinions, this study proposes 6 geography and 6 environment-related general education courses. Each university or college, depending on the nature and need, can offer 1~3 selected courses. By doing so, the colleges and universities offer the opportunity to educate geographically and environmentally sensitive modern world citizens. |
