This study treated air conditioners in households as an example, and combined importance-performance analysis (IPA) and quality function deployment (QFD) for quality analysis on products' aesthetic features. First, the consumer's expectations and satisfaction in the IPA for the product was investigated. The gap between expectation and satisfaction was calculated to weigh the importance of quality to the users. Subsequently, QFD was applied to construct the house of quality (HOQ). The proposed method is easy to implement and concerns about the aesthetic quality perceived by the users during computation. Hence, the proposed method is able to assist designers in effectively proposing strategies to improve the aesthetic quality design of existing products. The research results show that the panel of the air conditioner most needs to be improved, and in terms of design, certain decorative effects are required to create different product styles.
