對於明末入華耶穌會士而言,中國傳統堪輿術數所蘊涵的思維方式與價值體系,有別於其所熟悉的西方天主信仰及自然地理觀念。本文嘗試以艾儒略的論述為中心,探究耶穌會士的「西學(天學)」與中國傳統「地學」之間所存在的觀念差異及其價值矛盾。在相關的著述中,艾儒略依據人事常理或援引天主信仰,批駁堪輿術數之陰宅庇蔭觀、陽宅感應論及地理五要說等基本學理,並斥責傳統中國社會各種奉行陰陽宅風水之說的行為樣態,來破除福建人士針對堪輿術數的諸多迷思,更藉此傳達天主福音。透過這項個案研究,當有助於我們理解耶穌會士看待傳統堪輿術數的一些基本態度,並可作為我們考察明清之際中西文化交流史上,西方宗教神學與中國傳統民俗之兩種不同文化體系相互衝突的一個切入點。 |

For Jesuit missionaries arrived to China in the late Ming dynasty, the thinking and value of Chinese traditional geomancy (feng-shui) are distinguished from western Catholic religion and geography. This article intends to discover difference and contradiction between the ”western learning” brought by Jesuits and Chinese traditional ”feng-shui”. Giulio Aleni (1582-1649) had criticized basic theories of feng-shui in his related writings. At the same time, he denounced various customs in traditional Chinese society in order to eliminate feng-shui superstition of Fuchienese people, and disseminated gospel of God. We can comprehend viewpoints of Jesuits through this case study and recognize the conflict between western theology and Chinese traditional custom in history of Sino-European cultural exchange during the early XVII century. |
