巴拉刈(paraquat)是屬於毒性極強且作用快速的除草劑，當它在人體被清除和進行氧化作用時，會釋放出過氧基而引起多重器官的傷害，包括眼睛、心、肺、肝、腎和腸胃道…等。巴拉刈中毒大多是使用時不慎所造成，但近來具自殺傾向而選擇巴拉刈來結束生命的案例卻大大增加。其對人體的毒性機轉仍未完全清楚。治療上非常棘手且具有高致死率，即使存活了下來，仍會留下許多後遺症，影響往後的生活品質。因此認識巴拉刈是每位醫療人員重要的課題。

Paraquat is highly poisonus and rapid-acting herbicide. After it was eliminated and oxidated in the human body, release superoxide radical leading damage to multiple organs including the eyes, heart, lung, liver, kidney, gastrointestinal tract, etc. Almost paraquat poisoning are caused by mindless using, but rates of suicide adopting paraquat increasing recently. The actual mechanism of paraquat's toxicity is still unclear. Because of high fatal rate and complex in therapeutic maneuver, people suvives after paraquat poisoning with complications left may influence the quality of life in the future. So, getting more information about paraquat is an important topic for medical staff.
