Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of consecutive training on hepatic and blood parameters of athletes who are hepatitis B carrier.
Method: Sixteen male athletes participated in this study. Eight hepatitis B carriers (HG) and eight normal healthy subjects (CG) were recruited. All subjects were asked to run on treadmill at 75%VO2max, 30 minutes per day for five consecutive days. The blood samples were collected on day one at pre-exercise (T1) and post-exercise (T2), day five at pre-exercise (T3), post-exercise (T4) and 24 hr post-exercise (T5). All data were analyzed by mixed design two-way ANOVA. Results: 1) hepatic parameters: The values in AST, γ-GTP, LDH and globulin are higher at T5 than it at T1 (p<.05). 2) blood parameters: In CG, the values in RBC and hemoglobin are lower at T5 than that at T1 (p<.05), but higher at T5 than that at T1 (p<.05). WBC and platelet values are higher at T5 than it at T1 (p<.05). Lymphocytes value is lower at T5 than that at T1 (p<.05). Conclusion: Consecutive training is harmful in some hepatic parameters. It also has negative effects in RBC and hemoglobin for hepatitis B carrier athletes.
