舉凡體育運動中的教學或是研究工作，主事者為了得知成效，往往必須依據教學或是研究的目的施以適當的測驗，因此測驗可說是體育運動中不可或缺的重要工具；然而一般教學或是研究者在使用時往往將測驗與統計混為一談，致使在基礎的測驗理論不彰顯的情況下，經常無法得到正確而豐富的測驗訊息。因此本研究除了再次簡述測驗理論之外，更將筆者過往有關概化理論的實務研究綜合整理，期盼以野人獻曝的思維及作法，促使國內體育學術界重視體育測驗與評量的理論與實務研究。
