運動成績的提升是運動科學研究的重要目標。在需要凖確性及高穩定性的運動項目中，腦波的研究提供了一個視窗窺探運動員在運動表現時的心理狀態，並以科學分析的方式提供量化的資料讓研究人員、教練及選手瞭解運動員進行運動作業時的模式，同時可藉由進一步的回饋訊息，有效改善選手的動作控制，進而提升其運動表現。
