唐氏症者在動作行爲方面有其特殊之處,可能會影響其動作學習與技能發展。唐氏症者的特徵,包括:感官障礙、心臓缺陷、肌張力不足、肥胖、骨骼畸型及關節鬆馳等問題,動作與身體方面的限制包括:伸、抓、放等初始動作問題與移動性、穩定性及操作性等基本動作限制。就動作發展而言,常見唐氏症者有動作發展遲緩,尤其在幼嬰兒或兒童階段的初始動作及基本動作階段,較同齡者發展來得遲緩,然而透過運動訓練介入則可以改善。就身體生理與結構而言,唐氏症者在肌肉、體型、與身體結構方面有其異常之處,可能致使在知覺-動作方面産生困難。就動作學習而言,唐氏症者雖然在認知有缺陷,但是多樣化的練習安排,則能産生動作技能學習的效益。本文提出適應體育教學設計的要領,並且提議唐氏症者進行融合式體育活動的實務原則。
